FAQs

What is powder coating?

Powder coating is a durable protective finish applied to metal surfaces. The powder is electrostatically applied and cured under heat, forming a tough, long-lasting coating that is resistant to wear and corrosion.

How durable is powder coating?

Powder coating is highly durable and designed to resist chipping, scratching, fading and corrosion. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications when properly prepared and applied.

What can be powder coated?

Most metal items can be powder coated, including automotive parts, wheels, fencing, gates, frames, brackets and a wide range of industrial and custom fabricated components.

Do you prepare the surface before coating?

Yes. Proper surface preparation is essential for a quality finish. Items are cleaned and prepared prior to coating to ensure correct adhesion and long-term performance.

Can you match a specific colour?

We can work with a wide range of supplier colour systems and will do our best to match your requirements. Bringing a sample or reference is recommended where colour matching is important.

What size items can you powder coat?

We can handle a wide range of sizes, from small components through to larger items up to 7.2 metres in length.

How long does powder coating take?

Turnaround time depends on the size and complexity of the job, as well as current workload. We will provide an estimated timeframe when quoting your job.

How do I get a quote?

You can contact us via phone or through our website. For the most accurate quote, provide details such as item type, size, quantity and photos if possible.

Do I need to remove fittings or parts before coating?

Yes. Items should be stripped of non-metal components such as rubber, plastic, bearings or fittings before coating unless discussed otherwise.

Can damaged or rusted items be coated?

In many cases, yes. Surface condition will be assessed during preparation, and we will advise if additional work is required.

Do I need to book in?

Bookings are not required. For larger or more complex jobs, advance notice is appreciated to assist with scheduling and preparation.

What makes your chemical treatment process the preferred process?

Short answer
We use Oxsilan technology—a modern, high-performance alternative that delivers excellent corrosion protection and paint adhesion. Oxsilan is completely chrome-free, making it a safer and more environmentally responsible option, with reduced health risks for workers, easier regulatory compliance, and a more sustainable overall process. Our process is more efficient than traditional coating systems.

Long answer
Oxsilan replaces traditional treatments that rely on hazardous chemicals like hexavalent chrome, helping create a safer working environment and simplifying environmental compliance requirements.

In addition to these benefits, it forms a thin, uniform coating that enhances consistency across different metal types, supporting reliable results in a wide range of applications.

The process itself is also designed for efficiency, with fewer steps and reduced water and energy use, which helps minimise waste and improve overall operational efficiency.

Together, these advantages provide a well-balanced solution that supports both high performance and more sustainable manufacturing practices.
